New Delhi: The severe cold in many states of North India is in no mood to provide relief at the moment. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. People need to be more cautious in the next two to three days.

Can the mercury reach 3 degrees in Delhi?

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature of Delhi may fall by 3 to 4.2 degrees Celsius on Monday. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 18 to 20 degrees. That means sunshine during the day may provide some relief, but the cold in the morning and night can make people shiver.

In which states will cold bother you more?

Severe cold wave conditions may occur in some areas of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, severe effects of cold can be seen at different places in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. This situation is likely to persist in Jharkhand till Thursday.

Have the plains become colder than the mountains?

This time the cold has made a strange record. The temperature in cities like Delhi and Chandigarh has gone below that of Shimla. The minimum temperature in Shimla on Monday is expected to be around 9 degrees, which is much higher than in Delhi.

Will fog also increase problems?

Along with cold, dense fog can also increase people's problems. There is a possibility of fog in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand from Monday. This will reduce visibility on the roads and may affect train and flight timings.

What harm can cold cause to health and agriculture?

The Meteorological Department says that due to extreme cold, problems like colds, flu, body shivering, and nose bleeding can increase. Crops, animals, water supply and electricity system may also be affected.

Are room heaters becoming a danger now?

Room heaters and fireplaces being used to escape the cold are also proving fatal. Three people of the same family died in a fire caused by a heater in Delhi's Mukundpur area. In Tarn Taran, Punjab, a couple and their newborn child lost their lives due to suffocation after lighting a fireplace in a closed room. The administration has appealed to the people to use heaters and fire burning appliances with utmost caution.
